Headsets (to use with laptops to support learning)

Every student at Dr. Oakley is provided with a one-to-one laptop for school related purposes.  This enables our students to access inclusive technologies such as Read & Write and Google Voice Typing that are essential tools for daily learning across the curriculum.

To use this technology effectively, students are required to have their own basic headset equipped with a microphone to use with their laptops.  The wired connection can be USB or a single 3.5 mm jack. Wireless headsets are also not recommended due to connectivity issues with our student laptops.  Headsets can be purchased from a variety of stores (such as Walmart) as well as online retailers (such as Amazon).  As these headsets tend to experience a lot of wear and tear, and sometimes stop working mid-year, please consider a lower price point, as they may need to be replaced. 

Gaming headsets are generally not recommended due to their bulk, expense, and often have lights that are distracting to classmates.  An exception, however, is a wired headset   Although it is sold as a gaming headset, the PDP LVL40 Wired Stereo headset does not have any lights and has proven to be a fairly kid-friendly robust design for a reasonable price.
