Dear Families,

Happy New Year! I hope this message finds you well and that your family enjoyed a restful and joyful winter break. As we step into 2025, we are filled with optimism and excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead.

January is a time for fresh starts, goal-setting, and reflection. In our classrooms, we’re encouraging students to think about their personal and academic goals for the remainder of the school year. We are proud of the progress our students have already made and look forward to celebrating their continued growth.

This month, we will also focus on building resilience and fostering a growth mindset. With winter in full swing, it’s a wonderful opportunity to remind students that challenges, whether in academics or life, can help us grow stronger and more confident.

Here are a few key updates and reminders for January:

  • Report Cards: Report cards will be available through your MyCBE account on January 27.
  • Conversations about Transitions for next year:
    • If your child is in their final year at Dr. Oakley, teachers will be reaching out regarding next steps over the next few weeks. Your child will be automatically registered in their community school (as per your address), unless you have either expressed interest in an alternate program or another specialized placement has been discussed. If you have any questions, please contact your homeroom teachers.
    • If you are a first year family, you will automatically be enrolled at Dr. Oakley for the next school year, unless otherwise indicated.
    • All families- Please inform the school if your child is moving, leaving the CBE or you have accepted placement in an alternate program.
  • School Safety: As winter weather continues, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor activities. We appreciate your support in keeping everyone safe during arrival and dismissal.
  • Upcoming Events: Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Parent Session on Anxiety and Worries with our school psychologist, Paige Feurer. The session will be held online on January 27 at 7pm. Please see previous messages for more detail or call the office.

As always, we are grateful for your partnership and dedication to our school community. Together, we can ensure this new year is one filled with success, learning, and memorable experiences for all.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Wishing you a healthy and happy 2025!

Chantel Crosby, Principal
