Principal’s Message: November 2024

Dr. Oakley families,

As we welcome November, we are mindful of the importance of remembrance and gratitude this month. Each year, November 11 marks Remembrance Day, a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by countless men and women who have served in Canada's armed forces to protect our values of peace and freedom. In our school, we take the time to honor these brave individuals with a ceremony and moment of silence on November 7 to recognize their legacy. Please feel free to join us in the school gym at 10:45am on Thursday. The assembly has been organized by Purple Team.

Additionally, we acknowledge Indigenous Veterans Day on November 8. Although this day is a Professional Learning Day for teachers, it holds special significance as we honor the invaluable contributions of Indigenous soldiers, past and present, who served our country with courage and dedication.

As a school community, we aim to foster respect, empathy, and understanding. Throughout the month, students will have opportunities to learn about Canada’s stories of service, sacrifice, and resilience.
