Next week is an important one at Dr. Oakley as we recognize Orange Shirt Day and continue our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. 

Each year, schools identify a commitment to help advance Truth and Reconciliation. This year, Dr. Oakley’s commitment includes working with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers to deepen Indigenous students’ knowledge and understanding, and supporting effective, holistic transitions and collaboration for Indigenous students across grades and learning pathways. More information about our school commitment can be found on our website. 

Students in all classes have been learning about Orange Shirt Day and the importance of recognizing the history, experiences, and ongoing impact of residential schools. Our Grade 3 and 4 students will also share their learning by hosting our Orange Shirt Day Assembly on Tuesday. 

We look forward to coming together as a school community to listen, learn, reflect, and honour the children, families, and communities impacted by residential schools.

Orange Shirt Day Assembly 2:30pm - Hosted by Gr 3 and 4 students. Parents are welcome to attend.

From Parent Council: 
Casino Fundraiser: October 14 and 15, 2026. We need many volunteers to make this a success. The Casino is the biggest fundraiser for the school and ensures field trips, technology, and residencies are provided at no additional cost. Please recruit your family, neighbours, and friends!
